About Obangsaek.

Obangsaek (오방색) is a Korean color scheme which consists of red, yellow, blue, black, & white. The term translates to the “five orientation colors” and each color represents the different cardinal directions. This color scheme is frequently found in Korean traditional arts & textiles.

The color palette of the pattern was inspired by the obangsaek while the design aspect was inspired by the iconic yin-yang symbol, which is the central circle of the Korean flag and played around with its composition by breaking its recognized form.
