In December 2023, Meta took on the VR critics by launching Asgard’s Wrath 2, the most immersive VR game to date. Our challenge was how we can get VR skeptics excited about this highly-awaited game. Well, we pulled the game out of the headset and brought the chaos into our world.
This 360° campaign reached over 1.7 billion impressions and made Asgard’s Wrath II the most downloaded Meta Quest 3 game during the holiday season. It received rave reviews from game players and critics around the world.
The GameAsgard’s Wrath II was a long-awaited sequel after more than four years. For this highly anticipated game, we wanted to show how it feels to be fully immersed in the VR world by releasing three cinematic trailers that rallied people to finally put on a Meta Quest 3 headset and fight against the all-consuming chaos happening right in front of our own eyes.
A Rip in RealityThe Game Awards in December 2023 was the big stage for Asgard’s Wrath II. We wanted to create a captivating campaign moment that disrupts both the physical and digital realms and make the impossible, possible.
As attendees left the awards, a giant, 300 square-foot portal ripped open the Los Angeles night sky, filled with Loki and his beasts. People were able to witness Loki’s chaos in real life. This disruptive OOH pushed the limits of what is possible in OOH and sparked a huge worldwide response with online conspiracies on how this was executed.
Chaos on the StreetsOur viral RingCam and DashCam footage caught Loki’s beasts roaming around the streets. These social films were curated to warn people of the chaos invading our world.
Chaos at The NBAAs many tuned in for the Thanksgiving NBA game, we introduced Loki with a bespoke TV spot. Featuring Richard Jefferson, the commentator for the live Suns vs. Warriors game, the ad brought Loki’s chaos to the parking lot right outside Footprint Center Stadium. It offered a thrilling preview of the mayhem to come.
Chaos at The SphereLoki, the God of Mischief, made his grand entrance at TwitchCon, taking over the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas, which provided the gaming industry an exclusive first look at the game.
